Tavion is a charmingly modernised, independant, self catering gite attached to our 125 year old maison de maitre and overlooking the market town of Anduze in the Gard department.

Comprising of a bedroom with a double and two single beds or a child's cot on request (linen, towels and hair-drier included), a spacious, comfortably furnished open-area sitting-room with a CD/radio/cassette-player and satellite TV and a fully equipped kitchen (electric cooker, microwave oven, etc.), a shower/bathroom, a small utilities area with a top-loading washing machine, and an adjacent car-parking area.

There is a shaded patio and private grass terraces with garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue for outdoor meals, and central heating for out-of-season renting (Oct-Apr). The electricity supply is at 220/240V; and broadband access is via livebox connection

Anduze is only 2 km away and visible through the trees. The country market is on Thursdays, there is a flea market on Sundays, and the town really bustles with mainly French holiday visitors in the summer. In the spacious town centre with its café terraces, the tourist office offers an interesting list of restaurants, and a wide range of local attractions, the best known of which are the steam railway up the Gardon valley, the Bambouseraie park containing the biggest collection of bamboos in Europe, and the museum of Huguenot history

Positioned between impressive cliffs and clinging to the banks of the river Gardon, the town has stood at this "Gateway to the Cévennes" from medieval times. It has a proud history as a Calvinist stronghold from 1557 onwards, with successful resistance to several attempts at repression. Its great glazed earthenware vases have decorated the gardens of Versailles as far back as 1680. There are remnants of a fortified château in the centre, a music museum housing 1400 instruments, an unusual fountain with a roof shaped like a pagoda, an old covered market, and a host of attractive winding streets
